Leaf: Medium-sized, five-lobed, with the underside very painful.

Bunch: The pyramid-shaped, long, medium berries round, blue almost black.

The name refers to the sweetness of this grape to ripen early which is used to create wines rounded flavor with strong accents of red fruit and tannin surprisingly soft. Dolcetto is a grape variety grown in the South of the Piedmont. Widespread in the Langhe, its cultivation extends from the lower areas, near Alba, up to those of Monregalese greater share. In the Monferrato Dolcetto is present mainly in the range between Nice and Ovada and Acqui.
