Cultivation requirements: it adapts to different forms of training and pruning, pruning preferring medium with 4-5 buds or long with 8-5 buds.

Bordeaux grape, considered ubiquitous, is one of the most cultivated varieties in national and international level. It belongs to the large family of Carmenets which heads also Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon. In spite of the latter, the Merlot grape maturity has more advanced, with less herbaceous notes that allow the wines to express intense aromatic characteristics, modest acidity, good balance and softness of anthocyanins and tannins.

Oenological potential: vinified often blended with Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, lends itself to long periods of aging.
